Torendi!

So there is this new blog and shop that I am totally excited about, and it is called Torendi!

Here's a blurb from their website:
Torendi means trendy in Japanese and that’s exactly what we want to be. We want to be the new, fun, fresh and exciting side of paper crafting. We want to show you new ideas and products from other countries and let you find ways to incorporate them into your own unique style. We want you to know that it’s ok to be you and break away from the “norms” of paper crafting. Be different and have fun!
This is so up my alley! I can't wait to see what they come up with! You guys should totally bookmark their blog to get updates. I think the store opens on 9/9/09. One day before my birthday. Maybe I can get some goodies to celebrate the big 2-9? :) It's okay to buy yourself a birthday present, right? ;)

Thank you so much for visiting!

Grrr to Google Analytics

Just realized that if one changes their layout in blogger it deletes the google analytics code! oops! Just a warning for anyone who changes their layout and wonders why no one visits their blog anymore! jaja! :)

Have an amazing day,

This is only a test.

This is a test post. I just want to see which flickr size photo works on my new layout! Also, can someone leave me a comment to let me know that they visited the blog. I think my google analytics is on the fritz! Thanks! :) You guys are the best!! :)

It's a Small World After All!

Don't these flowers remind you of the Small World ride at Disney? It is my all time favorite ride because I absolutely love the art so much! Once I saw this stamp I had to get it because it reminded me of the ride!
This card is for the Hero Arts coloring challenge. Jennifer McGuire talked about coloring with colored pencils on kraft card stock, and I just had to try it. It seriously looks so cool! You should try it out! It was also fun to make a one layer card. Kristina Werner talked about that in one of the 2Peas classes. It's good to simplify every once in a while!
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm)
Ink: Ranger Adirondack (pitch black)
Stamps: Hero Arts (pattern flowers, everyday sayings)
Etc: Fiskars corner founder, Crayola colored pencils

Oh, Copics, how I love thee!

I decided to participate in the Hero Arts Color It challenge, and this week's CPS sketch:

So I decided to color my little heart out! I wish the shading was easier to see in the photo, especially because I worked so hard on it! Oh well! I like putting darker Copics colors on an acrylic block and then picking them up with a lighter shade. It helps since I only have 24 colors.
This card has some of my Archiver's goodies on it! The patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket! I finally own some! Woo! The sentiment is a new Hero Arts clear set that I got that is mega cute called Sky's the Limit. The background on the kraft notecard is the antique brocade Hero Arts cling! Woo!
I used a lot of distress ink on this card. I used antique linen all over the sunflower rectangle. I used antique linen, broken china and shabby shutters on the sentiment label. This is pretty much my version of shabby. This card feels very "Fall" to me. It may not be the traditional colors, but sunflowers, shabbyness and blue skies equals Fall to me! :)
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm), Neenah Paper classic crest (solar white), Cosmo Cricket (tuesday from girl friday)
Ink: Ranger Adirondack (espresso), Papertrey Ink (summer sunrise), Ranger Distress Ink (antique linen, broken china, shabby shutters)
Stamps: Hero Arts (a million thanks, sky's the limit, antique brocade)
Etc: Martha Stewart twine, Spellbinders dies (labels one), Copics (YR21, E00, E27, YR24, Y15, Y000, G28, YG95, G40, YG00)
Thank you so much for visiting!

Have an amazing day,

When you are feeling down, make a card that says smile!

Please excuse blogger's funkiness with the photos. It won't cooperate with me!

So today was one of those days when I just felt blah. You know what I mean? Well, for me, the best way to clear the blahs is to craft. So I thought I would make the brightest happiest card I could think of. I decided to combine two challenges. This one at the American Crafts blog:
And this one at 2 Sketches 4 You:

I used AC patterned paper, ribbon and thickers. I faux stiched because this girl can't sew (yet!) And I turned that fabulous 2S4You sketch 90 degrees. I had a lot of fun making this card! I hope it makes you smile if you are having the blahs too!

Also, I wanted to thank you guys so much for all your support and wonderful comments. You guys are infinitely sweet!

PS. Does anyone know the name of that American Crafts ribbon?
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm), Papertrey Ink (spring rain, hibiscus burst), American Crafts (Yay! from Junior)
Etc: American Crafts ribbon, Ranger Inkssentials opaque pen, Papertrey Ink button (spring rain), EK Success (embossed curve border punch), Fiskars corner rounder, American Crafts Thickers (chipboard rocketeer in leaf)

My Cute Stamps Tuesday!

Welcome to My Cute Stamps Tuesday! I decided that I would use my wonderful My Cute Stamps on cards every Tuesday. I thought of the idea at the same time as sweetie pie Sarah Martina decided to My Cute Stamps Mondays, so check out both our blogs on those days for some MCS goodness! Check out the other design team members too because they are amazing!! :)I decided to use the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge for my card this week. These colors are super fun and spring-y!

I used some American Crafts ribbon with staples to create the grass for these monsters to hang out on. I have seen a lot of crafty bloggers using this technique recently, and I just love it! I almost stapled my finger to my card, but it was totally worth it! ;)
Eek! Aren't these monsters cute?! I just love them. I love that you could make a boy card with them or make this Valentine with them too!
These monsters have fallen in love! The melon monster has sent a glittery green heart of love to the pink monster, who is totally thrilled. A match made in heaven, I say. :)
I had to show off my grass-ribbon again! Hey I almost lost a finger for that grass! haha! :)
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Classic Linen (classic natural white), Papertrey Ink (melon berry)
Ink: Ranger Adirondack (pitch black), Stampin' Up (wild wasabi), Papertrey Ink (hibiscus burst)
Stamps: My Cute Stamps (Eeek! A Monster!), Papertrey Ink (heart prints)
Etc: American Crafts ribbon, Fiskars corner rounder, Copics (YR24, R20, RV17, RV11, G40), Ranger Stickles (lime green), Ranger Inkssentials opaque pen

SPCC #12

It's another SPCC challenge!! Make sure you enter! The prize is fabulous!! :) How fabulous, you ask? Check it out:

That's right!! Copic markers from iCopic!!! Here is some info straight from Samantha at SPCC about the prize:

The winner this week will receive:
Copic Ciao - Set of 8 Craft Manga Muted Colors Marker Kit + 1 Multiliner Pen -This set retails for nearly $40 and one lucky winner is going to be the proud owner of this amazing set!!

How exciting is this?!?!
So here are the colors this week, and they are definitely a challenge! I cannot wait to see what you all do with them!
I decided to use my copics a lot. It is my first time really trying shading. It was so fun and relaxing. The melon mambo flower is R20 RV11 RV17; the bermuda bay flower is B00 BG45; the only orange flower is R27 YR21 Y15.
I rubbed stardust Stickles all over the flowers for a sparkly fun look. I also used my fantastic Fiskars apron lace punch as an accent with a row of Stickles on top of it.
My sentiment definitely needs some explanation. I tried to stamp the sentiment directly on the card, and I twitched and double stamped it. Don't you hate when that happens?! I was so mad as I had spent so long coloring the flowers and they were already adhered. Note to self: stamp sentiment first! So, after a bit of bad language, I decided to try something to cover it up. It wasn't completely successful, but at least the card was saved! I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock, cut it out and created a wash of liquid pearls, Stickles and water that I painted over the card stock sentiment piece. It looks really pretty in real life. The pearlescense makes it stand out from the background. The rhinestones were my finishing touch. I had to distract the eye with shiny objects away from the bizarre sentiment ;).

So come play along with us at SPCC! What are you waiting for? ;)
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Classic Crest (solar white), Papertrey Ink (raspberry fizz)
Ink: Papertrey Ink (true black)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (in bloom)
Etc: Fiskars apron lace border punch, Me and My Big Ideas Icon rhinestones, A Muse rhinestones, Ranger Stickles (stardust), Copics (100, R20, RV11, RV17, R27, YR21, Y15, B00, BG45), Ranger liquid pearls (white opal), Ranger mini mister

'S Wonderful, 'S Marvelous

Recently, I have been so touched and honored to receive some blog awards from crafters that I really admire. As many of you know, I go on commenting binges quite often. Meaning I comment on about 7 of your entries at once! This happens because life gets so busy and all of the wonderful blogs I love to read pile up. Well, I shouldn't let this happen because I was pretty late in realizing I had received these wonderful awards. I was so embarrassed to show my appreciation so late, but I want them all to know how much I really do appreciate it. You guys coming by and reading my blog everyday means so much to me. I have made so many blog friends (the new version of the pen pal, I think!) through crafting, and I just love this wonderful supportive community that has developed around all of our blogs. It is truly magical!

I received a blog award from Dana at Dana Scraps|Pixels and Glue. Not only is she so talented and sweet, but her blog has the best name! You definitely need to check her out!

Following are the deeds of the award:
  • Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.
  • Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you have newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
I also received this award from Kelley at My Front Porch. She is also so incredible sweet and her cards are gorgeous. Her buttons cards alone will knock your socks off. Check her out! :)

The last award I received is the Karma Award from Winter at Winter Wonderland. She is mega talented and also super sweet (can you tell that craft bloggers are just generally really sweet?!). You need to check her out too!
The Karma Award: "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their award." I need to choose 8 blog to pass this on to.

These awards are so wonderful, so I have decided to pass on these awards to wonderful bloggers! I may not be following the rules exactly, but I think I am going along with the general premise of the awards! :) The following bloggers not only show amazing talent but are also as sweet as can be! Some I have just discovered, others I have followed for a long time, but all of them inspire me everyday!

I hope you go visit these gals and get inspired too!

I also wanted to let you guys know something. I wasn't sure if to post it or not. First of all, I just couldn't believe it was real. Secondly, I didn't want to seem like I was bragging or something icky like that. That is so not me, and I would never want to come across that way, so I hope I am not. You guys have all been so supportive and sweet. I just love this little crafting community, and I feel like I just need to share with you guys! Who else on this planet would understand why I am so excited about this? :) I got accepted into CARDS January 2010 and Paper Crafts March/April 2010. I am still totally shocked. I still can't believe it. Crafting has been so good to me and brought me so much joy, and I am so excited to be on these pages amongst crafty people I so admire.

Thank you so much for listening to me blabber on! If you made it this far you should get a gold star!

BBQ B-day

Here is a guy birthday card. So hard to do! I made a version of this for Father's Day, and I adapted it to a birthday. I just love those little weber grills!

I am going to visit my parents in Chicago tonight. My Dad just had his second knee replaced on Monday. He is doing really well, and I am really excited about getting to spend some time with him and my Mom! I am so glad that my Dad will have bionic knees that let him play sports again. It is amazing what they can do now, huh?

Also, in a craft related note, while I am there my Mom is going to take me to Archiver's!! I am so excited about going! I've never been. The wonderfully sweet Lynnette even sent me a coupon! How could I not go?! :)

Color Throwdown #55

This is the Color Throwdown challenge. I love these colors together!!
This is my take on it. I love the balloons from everyday button bits! So cute!
I hadn't used kraft in a while. I am not sure why, because I love it! The rounded corners on just two corners of the card makes it feel that the balloons are flying away. The top right corner kind of points the way for the balloons!
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm)
Ink: Papertrey Ink (true black, raspberry fizz)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (everyday button bits), Lawn Fawn (scruffy pup)
Etc: Papertrey Ink buttons (white, raspberry fizz, summer sunrise), Fiskars corner rounder, Ranger Inkssentials white opaque pen, Me and My Big Ideas Icon rhinestones
Thank you so much for visiting!

Hi!

I don't know if I can stop myself from using everyday button bits all the time! It is just so cute!!
These glitter stickers are Making Memories. I found them at Target! I absolutely love the color!

I added Stickles to the buttons and to the ribbon to match the glitter of the alpha stickers. I think this turned out really Springy. I think I am confused as to what season is coming next! :)
[Supplies]
Paper: Neenah Paper Classic Crest (solar white)
Ink: Papertrey Ink (true black)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (everyday button bits)
Etc: American Crafts ribbon, Making Memories glitter stickers (hullabaloo), Stickles (star dust), Papertrey Ink buttons (sweet blush, summer sunrise)
