polls are now closed

It has come to the attention of Torendi that there were ways to cheat the system on the polls, so they have taken down the poll and are trying to find a different way to decide on the design team.

I promise you with all my heart that I was not doing any cheating of any sort. All of you and my family and friends came out in huge support of me, and I could never thank you enough or express how much it means to me. The kindness everyone has shown me has been overwhelming, and I am saddened that this happened.

So, I want to thank you for being the best supporters I could ever have. I wish I could give each and every one of you a big hug.

Thank you again,
Kelly Marie

Blog Hop(e)

Welcome to the Breast Cancer Blog Hop(e). This hop(e) was started by Michelle over at Inside My Own Private Idaho. You can go there to start the hop(e) and see the list of all the participants, if you haven't already.
My family has been greatly affected by breast cancer. I lost my beloved grandmother almost ten years ago. Two weeks after she passed away my mom was diagnosed with the same disease. She is now a two time survivor. That is why I put the sentiment "celebrate" on this card. I feel we should celebrate our survivors and honor and celebrate the lives of those that we have lost.
I believe that butterflies symbolize beauty, hope and freedom. I hope this card not only inspires you to celebrate this precious life we have every day but to also celebrate the lives of those that are no longer here with us. Te quiero mucho, mi Bila.

So, please hop(e) on over to Heather Lee-Reppen's blog by clicking here to see the next card in the hop(e).

Have an amazing day,

Embellishing for the cure

**I posted twice today. Please scroll down to see the other post**
Here is my second Embellish the Cure color challenge card. I made this one with my mother in mind. She likes lots of bling and detail! I thought it would be perfect to represent her. (Scroll down for my grandmother's card)These colors and photos are gorgeous for this challenge!
I decided to make a distressed flower but have the flower be the actual card! I sloppy cut the three outer circles and distressed them with my Tonic distresser and then rolled up the edges. I adhered them together with different heights of foam adhesive.
To create the card I cut two circles with my nestabilities and adhered them together to make a card like I did in this video. Then I adhered that to the back of my flower. I think this is such a fun shaped card!
The center circle was punched and then I added clear, pink and hot pink gems to the center. That was so much fun to do! I distressed it also. I then cut some leaves and distressed those also. I can't believe how much I distressed. I had so much fun doing it! Maybe I'll go on a distressing kick. You never know! :)

Also, please go over and vote for me (Kelly Alvarez) at Torendi! Help me get on the Torendi design team! I want this so much! Thank you!!!! Gracias!!!!

Have an amazing day,

tickled pink

Hello everyone! I am finally particiapting in Embellish Magazine's latest challenge. I have wanted to make a card from day one, but I just couldn't come up with the right thing. Then today, I made two Embellish cards! Here is the challenge:
I love this challenge, not only for the gorgeous colors but also because this cause is dear to me. I lost my beloved grandmother to breast cancer almost ten years ago. Two weeks after she died, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ten years later my Mom is now a two time breast cancer survivor.

I made this card with my grandmother in mind. She was always joking around and having fun. She loved beautiful flowers. And, I don't think she would have minded some nice bling also! The cute phrase "tickled pink" just seemed perfect. I also love this gorgeous and delicate flower too. (Please scroll up for the card with my Mom in mind.)I think this card is the perfect blend of Hero Arts, American Crafts and Papertrey Ink. I love these three companies, and I think they complement each other so well!

Also, please go over and vote for me (Kelly Alvarez) at Torendi! Help me get on the Torendi design team! I want this so much! Thank you!!!! Gracias!!!!

Torendi design team competition FINAL WEEK **Please vote for me!**

THANK YOU so much for all the votes. I don't even know what to say. I am speechless! You guys are amazing! Abrazos! Big hugs!! I am so excited to be participating in Torendi's design team competition FINAL WEEK!
Here is my card for the final week of the Torendi Design Team competition! This is it, folks! The top two vote-receivers will be in on the design team. So for one last week, I humbly ask for your votes. The poll is on the upper right hand corner of the Torendi blog. I would love your vote again. It would mean the world to me! I can't tell you how excited I am about Torendi and how excited and honored I would be to be on the design team.
This cutie pie dog stamp is in the "Joy" Torendi Kit. I can't get over what a cutie he is! I colored him with copics and cut him out. I used twine and wrapped it around the robots hand attaching to the dog to look like they are on a walk!
The robot is called "hellobot" and is also sold at Torendi. Isn't he cute? He loves his little puppy as much as I love mine! The chip board letters are Basic Grey and the color is called "dark chocolate chip". That makes me crave candy big time! :)
These trees are stamps by A Muse and they were stamped on The Boyfriend mini deck papers. How fun would it be to live in a world with pencil trees?! :)
The grassy hill was made with sticky back canvas. I had SO much fun with this stuff. I actually made a video of me trying it out for the first time. Check it out here.

Once again, thank you SO much for your votes last week, and, if this card makes you smile and you feel so inclined, I would so appreciate your vote one final time. Thank you so much for all the support! It means the world to me!

I miss you!

I am so sorry I have been gone from the blog. It is amazing how much I miss it! I haven't been feeling very well and had a forced crafting break because of that. I am excited about getting back to it tomorrow. I hope to have a product test video on sticky back canvas tomorrow. I will try it out for the first time on video, so you know there be some hijinks! ;)

Thank you so much for visiting!

just a note to say hello

Hello! I decided to use the infamous deer paper! The sweeties at American Crafts sent me a bunch of goodies and in that pack they sent me about 25 sheets of the deer paper!! Eeeek! I am so excited! I might have to make a video to show you the cool stuff they sent. It's so bright and happy!

This card is for the Raspberry Suite challenge and Get Sketchy challenge. I wasn't able to get the colors to show up quite right on the camera. I promise they are closer to the official colors than they seem! ETA: I also made this for the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab! How could I forget?! I used the colors and the spring-y feel of the image board as inspiration. This is how it went down: I saw the Tuesday Trigger, saw my deer paper, and thought it was a perfect fit!
How fun is this American Crafts stamp? It's so graphic and cool! I just love it! I promise the greens match better too! What is up with my photography skills today?! Haha!
Card stock: Papertrey Ink (dark chocolate), Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm)
Patterned paper: American Crafts (blue skies, happy go lucky)

Embossing powder: American Crafts Zing (leaf)
Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities (scallop ovals)

My Cute Stamps Wednesday

**Please scroll down for my Torendi Week 2 competition card and vote for me at Torendi's blog! You guys are THE best!**
So the Caardvarks challenge this week is to make a tall card! The first thing that came to mind was this awesome Circus Animals set from My Cute Stamps. I just love this set! I made this card for one of my sweet blog friend's birthday. I am SO late, and I hope she forgives me and loves the card! I have another blog friend to send a late birthday card out to too. Let's hope she forgives my lateness too!
I stamped and then colored my animals with copics. I cut them out and adhered them as if they were all balancing on each other. I feel like the lion looks a bit worried ;).
I used my upper crest punch again. My goodness do I love this punch! It is just so gorgeous and fun at the same time!
Card stock: Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm), Recollections (red)
Patterned paper: Me and My Big Ideas (chester)

Torendi design team competition WEEK 2 **Please vote for me!**

First of all, I have to send out the biggest THANK YOU ever for all the votes. I can't even express how much it means to me! You guys are amazing! Big huge hugs to you all! I am so excited to be participating in Torendi's design team competition week 2!
Here is my week 2 card for Torendi's design team competition, American Idol style. That means voting, and that means I need to ask you for votes again! The poll is on the upper right hand corner of the Torendi blog. I would love your vote again. It would mean the world to me! I am just so excited about this new store! So please help me continue to stay on the fabby island!! :)
The idea for this card was "fireflies in love". I can't help but sing "Strangers in the Night" every time I see the card! These cute little bugs are from Cosmo Cricket. I added stickles to them to make them into sparkly fireflies!
The hill was created from Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper. I backed it with some cream card stock so that I could stamp this wonderful sentiment from Ali Edwards. Don't you just love it? It always makes me happy because it reminds me of my life with my hubby, Mike. Awwwww :).
This amazing tree is a rub-on from EAD Designs. This is not your ordinary rub-on, folks! It's vinyl! It has this amazing shine to it and it just looks amazing in person. I am so in love with the set I got in my "Joy" Torendi Kit. I added stickles to the little holes in the tree to simulate other little fireflies having adventures of their own!
The background "sky" was created with a stickles/liquid pearls wash. I put some liquid pearls and some stickles on my Ranger craft mat. I added just a little bit of water and brushed on the "paint" with a foam brush. This helped create streaks in the sky to simulate the clouds and the pearlescence and twinkle of the stickles and liquid pearls reminds me of right at the end of dusk before it gets completely dark. It is such a beautiful time of day! This card may also be the biggest card I've ever made. It's 6x6! Let me tell you, it is hard to photograph a 6x6 card!

Once again, thank you so much for your votes last week, and, if you are so inclined and love fireflies and whimsy as much as I do, I would greatly appreciate your vote again this week! Thank you so much for all the support! It means the world to me!
