Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge #10!

Hello everyone!! Welcome to another Everything but the Kitchen Sink "around the house" challenge. What is our challenge this time? Fabric! That's right! Now, you could you some of that pretty fabric you bought at the store ... or you could get wacky and use fabric from around the house! I am talking old t-shirts, socks, and, well, towels!
I used one of those tiny terrycloth towels meant for cleaning from Target and cut it up to create this robe. I even made little pockets by cutting out squares and gluing them with glue dots. This whole robe is held together by glue dots! I could not find my embroidery thread and floss, so glue dots to the rescue!
The ducks in the background are from The Cutting Cafe "rain rain go away" set. I created a little background with them in Illustrator. The Cutting Cafe is our sponsor this week! They are even giving away three free sets to the winner! Awesome! So come along, get out your fabric and play along with us. We cannot wait to see what you create! Just go to this post to get Mr. Linky. Also check out the rest of the design team. They are amazing, and their links are to the right in the sidebar!
Card stock: Papertrey Ink (lemon tart), Neenah Paper Environment (desert storm)

Mother knows best!

A Mother's Day card in February ... hmmm. Why? Well, this came from the reject archives, my friends, and since I haven't had time to craft lately, I thought I would let it see the world. I actually think it is pretty cool, mostly because I love that Cosmo Cricket woman image!
I spelled out my sentiment with different alphabet sets. I do this a lot because I don't have the sentiment I want in my head, and I hate dealing with my printer! haha! The gems are actually the clear Kaiser Craft ones Papertrey Ink carries. I just colored it with my Copics. Custom colored gem on the cheap. Love it!

So all my sneaky weird annoying comments about why I have been busy ... well, they are all leading to March 2nd! Make sure you tune in, same bat time, same bat channel on March 2nd! I think it will be well worth it! :)
Card stock: Papertrey Ink (spring rain)
Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket (girl friday)
Element paper: Cosmo Cricket (girl friday)

Ink: Papertrey Ink (raspberry fizz, ripe avocado), Stampin' Up! (blue bayou)
Sewing machine: Janome

oops! clarification time!

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on my previous post. I seriously heart you all :).

A few people have asked, so I thought I should clarify. This is my first card acceptance I ever received, but because magazines have different publication times, it is not the first issue I appear in to be published. Phew! That's confusing! So, this issue holds a special place in my heart!

I hope you all are having awesome days! :)

Paper Crafts March/April 2010

The new issue is out and full of happy and inspiration!

This issue has my first ever accepted cards in it. I am still in shock from it all! Here is one of them:That little baby green balloon makes me smile! Haha! I just keep giggling at the thought of a hot air balloon family. :)
Thank you so much to Paper Crafts! I am just so honored!

I am sorry I haven't had many new cards lately! I have been hard at work on something super exciting. :) Tune in on March 2nd to find out! :) I hope you will be as excited as I am!

SPCC #36

Hello! Guess what? This is my last SPCC challenge. I can't believe it! Time flies! Thank you so much to Sam for having me on the team! Now on to the challenge!
Pretty colors, huh? Make sure to check out the SPCC site to see this week's prize and to add your card to Mr. Linky!
I had a lot of fun combining products for this card! The clouds are from the Practicing Creativity Designs "You're Dandy" set. So cute! I used Cosmo Cricket chipboard from the Torendi store, and Thickers and paper from the Baker's Dozen Studio Calico kit. I have been having a lot of fun pleating paper lately. I think it looks so cool! I also love how the lines in that Basic Grey paper mimic the lines in the American Crafts Thickers! :)
Card stock: Neenah Paper Classic Linen (natural white)
Patterned paper: Basic Grey (rolling pin) - from Studio Calico's Baker's Dozen kit

Boo! Torendi Style

Okay, okay, I know it's not Halloween, but it feels too cold for February, so I have Fall on the brain. Plus, I got these ADORABLE PacMan felt ghosties from Torendi. Jenn makes them herself, and they are beyond adorable! Like seriously adorable! There are Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man ones too! And to me this orange ghostie just screamed Halloween, actually it screamed, "boo!" Ba dum bum. I am such a dork! Haha!

I used glue dots to adhere the ghost and the letters are American Crafts Thickers. I rounded the top corners of the card to mimic the top of the ghost.
Card stock: Papertrey Ink (true black)
Feltie: Torendi (orange pacman ghost) - sold at Torendi
Stickers: American Crafts Thickers (leg warmers - awesome name! :) )

Mod Podge Rocks!

Yesterday sweetie pie Amy of Mod Podge Rocks featured one of my cards! I am so honored! Mod Podge does rock! :) Here is the card:
I used Mod Podge to stiffen fabric so that I could run it through my Cuttlebug. So fun! :) [original post]

You guys totally need to check the Mod Podge Rocks blog out. She shows the coolest projects and a lot of the ideas can be translated to card making. I love seeing the way people repurpose things too! So fun!!

I haven't been able to make many cards lately, and I am going crazy! I hope I have some time today! There is a Studio Calico kit calling my name!

Have a great weekend!! :)

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge #9!

Hello! I am the host this week at Everything but the Kitchen Sink! Deciding on an item for a sketch was harder than I thought it was going to be until I saw my West Elm daybed. It was perfect! So we came up with this sketch:
Super cool, right? Well, I guess I think so since I have the bed in my house! haha! I decided to use my first Studio Calico kit to make the card. Ooooh, I love this kit! I decided to go super simple with the card and make something sugary sweet! This is my first Sassafras feltie, and I will tell you that I just love them!

I also decided to make Mike's Valentine from this sketch. Yes, I am a day late. Lately we have been so busy that everything is a few days off! So this is definitely a funny Valentine. See, I decided to use this Shinzi Katoh stamp from the Torendi Love Fool kit because it has our initials! The second I saw it, I knew it was the perfect Valentine! I am the ketchup to Mike's mustard! Haha! So cheesy, but that's us! It just makes me smile, just like Mike! Awww :) The frame is Bam Pop, so fun, and the paper is also from the Love Fool kit.

Okay, make sure to play along with us at EbtKS! I didn't even make you use toilet paper this time! Hehe! There is a fab prize from Practicing Creativity Designs. Two stamp sets:

celebrate sunshine

Hello my lovely readers! I made four cards tonight! I was so glad since I have gone through a weird spell while moving to a new room. Does that happen to any of you? It takes a while to get used to a new place!

So I had the 2S4Y sketch in my head with this, but, as usual, I did not stick to the sketch too well! I still wanted to mention them and their amazing sketches! Talk about inspiration! Thanks 2S4Y! :)Okay, you all know that I love American Crafts. Well, mixing Heat Wave and Dear Lizzy makes me happy happy! To create the pennant banner, I stamped it in multiple colors and cut out the pennants to create a colorful banner!
How awesome is this Maya Road chipboard?! I used Tombow Mono Glue for the first time. That stuff rocks. Then I used my exacto knife to cut the inside parts of the bird cage and the Basic Grey filing set to make it all pretty since I am not best with the exacto knife!

I absolutely love the sentiment. Do you hear me SoCal?! I want to celebrate sunshine! :) I hope you guys enjoyed the new American Crafty goodness! They did such an amazing job with this release. Thanks for the smiles, AmCrafts!

Love

Hello! This card is for the Caardvarks wedding challenge! Now I know this is not exactly a traditional wedding card, but I can't help myself with the color! Weddings are happy and colorful, so I decided to make a card that reflected what weddings are to me. Plus, I know the PERFECT couple to give this too when they get married (Hi Mariah and Austin!)
The flower is made of orange felt from one of Courtney's tutorials. They are so fun and pretty easy to make too! Thanks, Court! :) I liked alternating the white and brown faux stitching. It really accentuates the shape of the card, and the brown pen is way easier to faux with! haha!
The Thickers were originally white so I dyed them with ColorBox chalk ink. Let me tell you that it took a lot of layers, but I think it was worth it for a custom color! I need to buy more plain white Thickers to do that with! This might be my all time favorite Thickers font. I think probably because it looks a bit like the "It's a Small World" font, and I am obsessed with the art in there! Thanks for making me smile again, American Crafts!
I am just so in love with these card shapes from Two Peas and Jen Allyson. The are just SO cool. If you have a Silhouette or Cricket with SCAL, make sure to check these out! :)
