ReplyDeleteI love to eat "rabanadas" at Christmas! In Brazil we make "rabanadas" at Christmas. I think the United States are known as "madeleines". It is slices of bread soaked in milk with sugar and then fried in oil and sprinkled with cinnamon. Hum.... delight!

My favorite treats at Christmas are cookies that everyone only bakes for the holidays. Yummy, yummy. My fondest memories during the holidays are making cookies with my mom and then passing this tradition down with my children and now watching them pass it down to their children.

For years now my family tradition is making peanut brittle. We make alot of batches, decorate the jars and give them out as gifts to alot of friends and family. So, peanut brittle is my favorite holiday treat. Thanks for the chance.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite treat is what my mom makes, it is called masup or egg caramel and it is made with eggs, ghee(palm oil) and sugar stirred for a long time , cooked and then made into thin pieces after it is spread out and cooled. I don't think it's because they are my favorite tasting (although they are really good), but because they come wtih the most memories of making them. My kids just got married and now we make them as a group of adults too. So fun!

My favorite holiday treat is my mom's holiday breads! A rich egg bread with lots of dried fruit and nuts, served warm with a sweetened cream cheese spread, YUM! We only get it on Christmas, New Years Day and Easter.

ReplyDeleteHm, tough question! I think I'm going to go with 'chocolade pepernoten' :) It's sort of a very small, crispy cookie, covered in chocolate. It's a typically Dutch treat for the holidays. Unfortunately nowadays, you can already purchase them months ahead of time. I don't, I just wait till December and hope they are not sold out by then lol ;-)

My favorite treat are the homemade cookies! If I have to pick just 1 it would be the red velvet cream cheese frosting cookies. Yum cannot get enough of those.
