Lily Pad Cards Blog Hop

Welcome to stop 3 in the Lily Pad Cards blog hop! If you arrived from the wonderful Tiffany Ervin's blog, you are hopping right along! If not, I hope you join the hop now! :) This blog hop started on March 28th and will feature seven blogs per day when it culminates on Friday, April 1, with the grand opening of Lily Pad Cards.  Lily Pad Cards is a new challenge blog that will feature interviews, articles, videos, challenges, great prizes, and more!

Although Lily Pad doesn’t officially bloom until April 1, 2011, you’ll be able to see a new sneak peek every day until then. And you’ll definitely want to drop by because there are three prize packages with a total retail value of over $800 - including a $100 gift certificate to a very popular online store and some Lawn Fawn stamps! :) Go here for specific prize details and contest rules.

The hop’s theme is Welcome, and here is Lawn Fawn's "welcome to the neigborhood" card for Lily Pad Cards!
Lawn Fawn critters are welcoming Lily Pad Cards! I colored critters with Copics from all the the Lawn Fawn critters sets: Critters in the 'Burbs, Critters in the Sea, Critters in the Snow & Critters in the Forest. I also had to include some Fly Free birds, too! :) I spelled out a custom sentiment with Thickers and Harold's ABCS, and added some white on white clouds that I cut out myself. I also popped up my white panel on a white card base. I am loving doing that lately :).

Thanks you so much for hopping on by! The next stop on the hop is the fabulous Joy Taylor’s blog. If you hit a bad link, you can always go to Lily Pad Cards and click on the next link in the hop. Please report any bad links to webmaster@inlinkz.com.

We hope you have fun on the hop! :)

Have an amazing day,

layout + card + video

Today, I have a layout, a card made from what was left on my desk after the layout and a super speed video of that card! Phew!

I had so much fun making this layout with my Into The Wood Studio Calico kit. Almost everything was made with the kit! I painted the chipboard stars with Claudine Hellmuth paint and Distress Ink. I used Say Cheese to make a journaling area. I already had that photo printed, so I thought that would be a perfect place to journal! I used Say Cheese, Too on a Studio Calico sticker to create a custom element for the page.

My journaling reads: "Mike and Putter are my two favorite guys. They just make me smile and laugh. They are always there for me and stick by me through thick and thin. They are my perfect little family. <3 2009"

Now here is a video of the card I made with the stuff left on my desk. It is fast motion! I hope you guys like it!
Watch it here or at YouTube!

Here is my post-layout card. I added the stars from Teeny Tiny Backdrops with Malted Milk ink on the card base. It is super subtle and just a nice texture on the card. The Say Cheese polaroids are all paper pieced, and I used a nestability to create the 2.5" square for the center. Add some washi tape and some Thickers, and it's done! :)

Thanks so much for watching! Big hugs to you all! :)

Have an amazing day,

there's a bun in the oven :)

Hello! I have a fun Plus One card today!

I just did some simple Copic coloring, cut out the image and added it to the yellow panel along with a sentiment. Super fun and easy! These would be great to announce a pregnancy or congratulate someone on one! To get the "stainless steel" look in the back, I used the chisel end of my Copic marker and colored in uneven strokes. I always have fun using my Copics and pencils to try and get the look of a certain material or fur, etc. Such a blast!

picture perfect

Hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had great weekends! I have a super quick card for you today. You may have seen it on the Write. Click. Scrapbook blog a while back, but I thought I would show it here, too!

This card is about as simple as it gets, but I just love it! The best part is that you could make a bunch of these and then change the sentiment for different occasions. The little camera is from Say Cheese, Too. I want a camera that looks like that! :) Also, I just can't get enough of the rainbow color scheme these days. I think it has to do with wanting Spring to arrive! :)

I had fun making this sentiment! I used "picture perfect" from Say Cheese, and the "you are" is actually from My Silly Valentine's "you are my cutie pie". I just love combining different sentiments. I will have to show you guys two different ways to get this effect on a video! One involves *gasp* cutting the stamp! (AND it survived!)

I hope you all have an amazing day! Big hugs to all of you, and thank you so much for your amazing and sweet comments. They really do just make our day!

Have an amazing day,

you and me are meant to be

Hello! Can you guys believe it's Wednesday? This week is flying by! Slow down week!
Today I have a fun mini album to show you guys. A lot time ago (I'm talking months and months), I signed up for a class being taught by Elizabeth Kartchner. I *finally* got a little time to do it this weekend, and I am so glad! It was a great self-paced class with videos, etc. And now I can't wait to make more mini albums! I am also so grateful that they left the class up this long! Do you all wish there were more hours in the day too?

Okay, so there are a lot of photos in this post! And, of course, some Lawn Fawn stampyness. This is a mini book of the story of me and Mike :).

Here is the cover:
page 1 a
I went a little crazy with my paint on the cover, but it was so much fun that I don't mind it! I just love the Fly Free birdie ready to fly right off the page!

page 2 a
I used some letter stickers in Bannerific to put our names on the inside cover. The velum envelope holds pages for journaling. It is so nice to write our love story down. I never have, and I am so glad I am doing it now!

page 2 b
A fun little adornment on the opening of the envelope. I just had to add another Fly Free bird.

page 3
This is the first photo we ever took. It's in Mike's dorm room at UC San Diego. We met at a 24 hour burrito place after a Wind Ensemble rehearsal. Yup, we are band nerds in love. This page is canvas, and has some spray ink on it. I am getting more used to the stuff. I really need to keep trying it! (Oh, and please excuse my eyebrows. What was I thinking?! Haha!)

page 4
This is a photo of us in our first apartment. I just had to take one right when we got the keys to enter. We still miss this place. There was something magical about it there. I used the present tag stamp from Bows and Holly for a little journaling tag. It works so well for that!

page 5
This is an acrylic page I also over painted. Once I get painting I can stop. I also like to finger paint better than paint with brushes. It's just more fun! :) This photo was taken by Chenin Boutwell of Boutwell Studio for our engagement photos. Mike just make me smile :).

page 7
The other side of the acrylic page. I decided to do two photos here also shot by Chenin Boutwell of Boutwell Studio. I added a bow from Bows and Holly for an extra embellishment. It also make me think of "tying the knot!" :)

page 8
Another vellum envelope is adorned with the "love life" sentiment from Fly Free. This mini set is just perfect for mini albums! I also used Teeny Tiny Backdrops to decorate my tag. I used the music notes, since we met playing music!

page 10
I just did some quick journaling on the back of the tag. Since most of my thoughts are in the envelopes, I decided to just put little things around my photos.

page 11
This is one of my favorite photos from our wedding. (Shot by Chenin Boutwell of Boutwell Studio). You guys need to go check out her photos! They are so gorgeous and inspirational! I used Bannerific for journaling here. It is wonderful for titles, dates and all kinds of journaling!

page 12
The last two pages where Bannerific and the Fly Free bird from the cover make an appearance again. I just love adding stamped images as if they were special die cuts just perfect for my pages. I just love that you can customize them with patterned paper or coloring!

page 13

And now the end. I had to include an Instax photo! I just love that little camera! The journaling here says "new year's eve/starting our 12th year together full of bliss & joy/ this is family/this is true love"

I just had a blast making this book and can't wait to do more. I can't wait to make a Say Cheese one! Have you incorporated stamping into a mini book lately? We would love to see it!

rainbow birds say thank you!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I have a happy sunshiny card for you today to combat all of the dreary rain we are having here!

DSC_0144 2
These little birds are from Critters in the Forest. I colored them in a rainbow pattern. I love the idea of all of these birds all lined up in a row on a wire in the sky. :)

I cut clouds out of some fabulous American Crafts Hello Sunshine paper. I LOVE that line. I adhered them directly to the card and with different levels of foam adhesive to give the card some dimension. I also adhered my panel to a card base (also in white) with some foam adhesive. I love the white on white. It looks so cool! I also used Just My Type, Too for the sentiment. I just love that font! :)

Hoping for some rainbows today! :)

Wee Memories + Lawnscaping!

Lawn Fawn is sponsoring the Wee Memories challenge which has teamed up with the Lawnscaping challenge! There are now two chances to win some Lawn Fawn!

This challenge is a super fun one!

There can be so many fun interpretations!

Here is mine! (You might remember it from this video.)

I had so much fun combining all of the new sets from the March release. The front of the card has the Say Cheese polaroid, and the sentiment comes from Say Cheese, Too. Those sentiments are good for cards and layouts! The scene was created with Critters in the Forest, and I stamped a sweet heart and star border from Plus One on the inside of the card!

Here's a close up on my coloring. I used colored pencils for the background and Copics for the Critters. I think it helped make the background look more "backgroundy". Haha!

You can check out the video here to see the making of the card. Do you guys like the fast motion? Let me know!

So make sure you head on over to the Wee Memories challenge blog and the Lawnscaping challenge blog. Both sites will each draw a winner, and your entries will automatically be included on both blogs. Isn't that awesome?! I love the two chances to win!

We can't wait to see your entries!
